The following information will give you many things to do, when you are sick, to help yourself feel better. Doing things to keep yourself from getting sick will keep you from bad feelings. When your body is in a weakened state, germs can invade your body bringing sickness, but there are preventative measures that can be taken. Since the common cold, along with the flu, have no cure, that makes it really important, especially during the season for colds, to take whatever action necessary for prevention. Being bedridden with the flu or common cold doesn't have to happen to you, if you will do a little preventative maintenance.

Make sure you eat right. Eating right is such a necessity it needs to be repeated over and over. Since you are more prone to getting sick during flu and cold season, proper nutrition is even more important during that time. This is a time when your body needs all of the help that it can get to fight illnesses so make sure that you get all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need to stay healthy.

The best way to go, is to change your foods from those that are full of chemicals to those that are natural foods which are healthier. Look at nutritional information for people who match your age, weight, and height, and follow the directions on the food pyramid, if nothing else. You need to wash your hands often. When you open a door to a business, like a bank or restaurant, do you think about the people who touched that doorknob. Do you think any of them could be trying to fight off a disease? No wonder so many people get sick. Prevention starts with keeping your hands washed A lot of germs get transferred to your face, throughout the day, because you touch your face with your hands, quite often. The majority of people couldn't even count the number of times they touch their face, even in a twelve-hour period. When you wash your hands often you wash away the germs that have been transferred from the things you touched to other parts of your body. Anything you can do to get rid of the germs will give your health a better chance.

Don't smoke. This is most important during cold and flu season, but basically true all of the time. Your breathing passageways are irritated by smoking. The flu and cold germs will have an easier time getting the best of you when this happens. Since this will make you more vulnerable, a measure of prevention would be to quit smoking. It's also a good idea to avoid contact with people who smoke because even passive ingestion of the stuff (aka secondhand smoke) can cause irritations and make you more likely to get sick.

The cooling and heating bills might be less costly, but any germs that manage to get into the house, circulate continuously through the house and stay there. Germs can be floating around any house, causing sickness, and by circulating fresh air, the germs can become diluted. Even cold air when it is fresh, just feels good. Once you get a cold, just ride it out, because there is no cure. There are measures you can take to begin with, that will keep you from getting a cold or the flu. Flu treatment as well as treatment for a cold is basically only ways of prevention. The effects of a cold or the flu are far worse than what the measures of prevention are.
