If you had enough of listening to why you should be eating enough vegetables and fruits and yet hate to do so, you should probably try juicing. Fruits and vegetables contain numerous minerals and vitamins and when you don't eat them, you lose out on them. If you are not fond of eating them, you should try juicing them.

Juicing helps you get a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and beneficial enzymes in just one glass without the hassle of eating four to five fruits or vegetables in a day. While it is often used for weight losers, juicing is also easy on your digestion and it provides an extra dose of energy, allowing the body to heal and recover.

Juicing also allows the cells of the body to repair and detoxify giving you a beautiful complexion and a healthier body and mind. Fresh juices of vegetables and fruits are more beneficial compared to packed juices.

However, juicing does have some drawbacks as well. For example, when juicing a vegetable takes away its fibers, which is very important for a healthy digestive system. So, if you are drinking juices instead of eating raw vegetables and fruits, try eating ample amounts of whole grain breads, nuts and seeds to get enough fiber.

Juicing can prove to be costly as well especially if you throw away the pulp. You need a higher number of fruits to get a glass of juice whereas when you are eating, you will need to consume only two or three fruits a day. Juices are also not always very filling compared to actually chewing a vegetable.

However, the health benefits that you get from juicing are definitely worth the money that you spend on your juices. Further, if you add supplements such as spirulina to your glass, or take spirulina supplements, you get more health benefits from your glass of juice. Spirulina is a potent supplement that is rich in antioxidants so it protects your cells from free radical damage, that is, it postpones the aging process.

Chlorella is an algae which contains 20 vitamins and minerals and this can also be added to your juices to make them more nutritious. Wheatgrass and barley grasses are also quite healthy. Wheatgrass juice has been found to be quite effective in curing various health problems such as anemia, skin rashes, worms and ulcers.
