Probably 30 or 40 years ago XXXL were known to shoppers as big and tall men's clothing. If you're out shopping, and happen to be just an XL guy, then you'll be considered a Big and Tall guy. The reason for this is simple, clothing designers are making clothes for smaller people and the sizes on the labels reflect that change.

This runs rampant in women's clothing but has affected the men's clothing industry as well. It's already fairly evident that more stores are carrying sizes for big and tall men. If you keep reading you'll find out how to find the clothes you like and maybe some great deals, too.

Specialty retail stores that stock a wide variety of big and tall men's clothing could be a good place to begin. While few people like shopping in stores that carry this label, the fact of the matter is that there will be a wider selection in these stores than in department stores or small retail clothing stores. There are also more designers catering to the bigger sizes which gives you even more styles of clothing to choose from. Now there are more options than ever and the specialty stores that cater to this size have a better variety than ever.

So try to find shirts that are made either of cotton, or some kind of blended fabric. The advantage here is these fabrics are more stiffer and will contain rather than show, plus they also breathe well. Fabrics that contain well is often a better choice for those who are sensitive about their weight.

If you can afford to do so, you could arrange to have some pieces tailor made to suit your own taste and budget. The can be an excellent way to put together a formal outfit that can be more difficult to buy in retail outlets.

For jackets, keep an eye out for those with single breasted lapels. You'll look like you're slimmer in a single breasted lapel jacket.

There are lots of tips out there designed to help you find the right big and tall men's clothing to suit you. Regardless of what size clothing you wear, it can be easy to find outfits to suit you. The trick is to look for clothing that helps to flatter your shape and then build onto your wardrobe using styles that match.

You have to think about where you shop, different fabrics and patterns to choose from, sizing differences - a lot of things! Your parents and grandparents did not have the wide selection that you have today. So... get out there, have some fun, and find some great clothes that you'll look great wearing.
